Over ten years ago, a group of parents and residents formed the Bay Skate & Bike Park Foundation to help students accomplish their goal of creating a skate park in Bay Village, Ohio. With the help of many volunteers and supporters, that dream became reality five years ago, when the Foundation made a donation to the city for the construction of a concrete skate park. Since then hundreds of bike and skate enthusiasts have enjoyed the park in Bay Village.

With the core mission of the Foundation accomplished, we spent the last four years helping raise funds for the maintenance of the park as well as recognizing outstanding civic leadership within the senior class of Bay High School through a BSBP Scholarship for the last few years.

2015 marks a change for the Bay Skate & Bike Park Foundation. We have elected to dissolve our organization and work under the umbrella of The Bay Village Foundation which has long been focused on strengthening our community. Through the collaboration with The Bay Village Foundation, our supporters can still continue to make charitable donations to the park and the funds will directly be used for park maintenance and improvement in the years ahead.

The members of the Bay Skate & Bike Park Foundation wish to thank our donors and supporters for all of their support over the last decade. Without all of you, none of this would have been possible.

Thank you!

The Mobile Cupcakery, to the band Hypnotic Dog, to those who donated items to be raffled off, to our judges, and of course our supporters.

Small Ribs 2014

Last year, Bay Village beat out 64 other northeast Ohio communities to rank #1 in our region in the 2013 National Bike Challenge.  Bay Village had 27 riders who rode a total of 27,685 miles during the 5 month challenge!  We know that many more Bay residents rode their bicycles last summer, but their miles were not counted in the challenge.  No matter how little you ride, we want you to join Village Bicycle Cooperative in the 2014 National Bike Challenge!  Every mile counts!

This is NOT a fundraiser, so you don’t need to solicit any money from friends. In this challenge, you simply sign up for a free account and log your bicycling miles between Thursday, May 1, 2014 and Tuesday, September 30, 2014. Local cities, and cities around the country, are pitted against each other.  The cumulative total of all miles biked by all participants is also used in advocacy campaigns aimed at increasing funding for safe biking infrastructure throughout the country. Signing up and logging miles for the National Bike Challenge is easy. It only takes a few minutes to sign up and less time to log miles. Instructions are in the PDF linked here: http://www.villagebicycle.org/in-the-community/Signup%20Instructions%20-%202014%20National%20Bike%20Challenge%20VBC.pdf?attredirects=0&d=1

Contact patrick@villagebicycle.org if you have any issues signing up.

Village Bicycle Cooperative has a had a wonderful summer and appreciated all of the support from the community and would like to show their appreciation by hosting a “fixathon” on Saturday August 17th from 2-5pm in the parking lot at city hall. Bring your bike and members of the Village Bike Coop will fix it up.  No major repairs, but general adjustments and maintenance.

Also, Rustbelt welding will have our new ART Rack completed and we are hoping that the city can have it installed by the 17th so we can showcase the collaboration between all of the parties involved (VBC,BSBP,Green Team, and the city).

More details coming soon…
